Vice mayor Ester Lazaro on Thursday formally took her oath of office as the new local chief executive of this city in what police described as an orderly undertaking.
Lazaro’s oath-taking was administered by provincial prosecutor Floro Florendo at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall in the presence of city councilors, barangay officials and supporters.
Councilor Myrna Corpuz said the assumption of Lazaro will pave the way for a more responsive city government.
This is the season, she said, when "our constituents go to City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and other offices for assistance."
Supt. Ricardo Villanueva, head of the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC), said the oath-taking ceremonies went through "peacefully."
Lazaro was officially installed as city chief executive as mayor Efren Alvarez last reported to office on Feb. 19, a few days after the Sandiganbayan issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
