Tokyo Electric Power Co. <9501> resumed rolling blackouts mainly in the Kanto eastern Japan region on Tuesday after skipping the measure during the three-day weekend through Monday.
The firm suspended power supply to households in Group 1, one of the five groups into which its service area was divided for the implementation of the outages, from around 9:20 a.m. (12:20 a.m. GMT).
Group 2 followed past noon. Some 5.5 million households were affected by the early afternoon.
Later in the afternoon, Group 3 and 4 will suffer temporary power cuts in that order. For each group, outages are slated to continue for up to three hours.
