The Dept. of Health and the provincial government of Pampanga have agreed to jointly construct a facility solely for tuberculosis patients.
Dr. Leonita Gorgolon, DOH-Center for Health and Development director, said the department could augment on other needs for the construction of sputum collection and waiting area in different towns.
“We are willing to complement with whatever is lacking with the program of the provincial government on tuberculosis,” Gorgolon said.
She said they had budget allocation amounting to at least P40,000 intended for the materials needed in the construction of sputum collection area.
The provincial government, on the other hand, has initially allocated at least P37,000 for structural requirement of a sputum collection area.
Gorgolon likewise said the department has budget for Directly Observed Treatment Short program.
The provincial government has earlier allocated P5 million for TB-DOTS course accreditation of all district hospitals and rural health units.
“We want the accreditation the soonest time possible to address the increasing number of TB victims”, Gov. Lilia Pineda said after learning that some government hospitals in the province and most RHUs are not TB- DOTS certified because of inadequate equipment and facilities.
