The Provincial Government here created task force dengue to address the rising cases of the said disease.
In an executive order signed by Governor Eugene Balitang, it stated that Ifugao is heavily hit by the dengue outbreak in the Cordillera. A report from the Disease Reporting Units in the Cordillera Administrative Region showed that dengue cases here drastically increased to 500% compared to the same period last year.
“There is a need to create Task Force Dengue here in order to contain the outbreak, Balitang said.
The functions of the said task force are namely; to assess dengue situation in the province and recommend immediate corrective and curative measures on all concerned, coordinate with the municipal dengue brigades for the provision of preventive measures in order to contain the outbreak, provide assistance and support to patients of dengue and coordinate with all stakeholders and harmonize all activities relative to the curtailment of dengue.
Provincial Administrator Guillermo Tadao is the Task Force Chairman, with Executive Assistant Elvis Martin, the Provincial Health Officer; SP Committee on Health and Sanitation, DOH, Ifugao General Hospital, Peoples Organizations and the PIA as members.
Meanwhile, the religious sector spearheaded an anti-dengue activity by inviting an Ifugao medical doctor to lecture on nutritional healing dubbed as “What we eat can heal us”.
Conducted on July 29 at the Don Bosco High School auditorium here, Dr. Felix Ayahao lectured on how to remove gall stones without the expensive operation and how to increase platelet count in dengue patients without the expensive platelet infusion. (PIA-Ifugao)
