Talk n Text Better than San Miguel Beer

By Rocky Nazareno 01/31/2011 Game Wednesday (Araneta Coliseum) 7 p.m. – Talk ‘N Text vs. San Miguel (Game 5) Olsen Racela crafted an elegant endgame fitting a cager in the twilight of his career, scoring San Miguel’s last four points and hustling for the game’s last possession as the Beermen posted a 91-87 victory over Talk ‘N Text last night that tied their best-of-seven playoffs for the Philippine Basketball Association 2010-2011 Philippine Cup title at 2-2 at the Araneta Coliseum. The 40-year-old Racela, playing in his last games after an 18-season PBA career, calmly hit on four free throws inside the last 52.3 seconds – his only points throughout the game — and capped his heroics by collaring the loose ball after a miss by Ranidel De Ocampo to send the Beermen back into the thick of things with their second straight win. Moreover, San Miguel dealt Talk ‘N Text its first back-to-back loss this season as the series is now reduced to a best-of-three affair. “I’ve always said that I would want to end my career with another championship. This win gets us back in the running,” said Racela who is also seeking his 10th PBA title before retiring and assuming a role in the San Miguel coaching staff and as head coach of the National youth team. The Tropang Texters mightily fought back from deficits of as many as 17 points (25-42) behind a fourth quarter pounding from Jason Castro who fired 13 points in the last quarter alone. His three-pointer, with 1:49 left, set the stage for Talk ‘N Text’s fiery windup and sent them within two at 83-85. Free throws from Jimmy Alapag and Larry
