Summer Job in Zamboanga Philippines
Intensifying the implementation of pro-poor programs, the city government has set out guidelines for the Summer Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) starting April with bigger funding allocation and a higher number of beneficiaries.
This, as registration for the SPES started last Monday and will end on March 10. Enlistment is being done through the barangay chairmen of the 98 villages in Zamboanga City.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Francisco Barredo said Wednesday that Mayor Celso Lobregat has increased the funding allocation for the program from P8 million in 2010 to P9 million this year in a bid to help poor but deserving students pursue their education by providing them employment during summer vacation.
Barredo said that with the increased funding allocation, a total of 3,032 slots will be made available for both college and secondary students this year.
Barredo said the first batch shall compose of the college students and working period will be from April 11 to May 10 while the second batch composed of secondary students will work from May 4-31.
