Storm Coming to Japan

The national weather agency called Wednesday for a continued sharp lookout for violent winds and high waves.

This, as the depression which brought storms Tuesday to wide areas of Japan moves to northern regions along the Sea of Japan coast.

In the early hours, gusts of up to 156.6 kilometers per hour were recorded in Sado, Niigata Prefecture, 152.3 kph in Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, and 146.9 kph in Akita, Akita Prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The agency forecast heavy winds and blizzards will continue until around noon in the Hokuriku region on the Sea of Japan side of central Japan, until the evening in the Tohoku northeastern region, and until the early hours of Thursday in Hokkaido.
