Chinese stocks closed lower at midday Friday as the country’s stubbornly high inflation dampened investor confidence.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1.1 percent to end the morning session at 2,412.03.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 1.12 percent to 10,364.4.

China’s inflation eased slightly to 6.1 percent year-on-year in September from 6.2 percent in August, the National Bureau of Statistics said Friday.
