Standard for the design of terminals

A guideline that will set a standard for the design of terminals that will cater to public utility vehicles (PUVs) is mulled to be implemented in Westen Visayas.

Architect Manuel Tingson of the Iloilo Cultural Heritage Foundation for Culture and member of the Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) of the Regional Development Council (RDC) presented an initial plan during the committee meeting held on Tuesday.

The proposal, however, was noted down pending the inclusion of other utility vehicles as the design presented covers only bus terminals.

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, chair of the IDC, said that the plan should also include jeepneys, taxis and other utility vehicles.

Mabilog, nonetheless conformed with the idea of setting up a guideline for the establishment of terminals as more local government units in the region are starting to construct the same.

He added that it does not necessarily mean that they comply with the international standard but at least it must also be pleasing to the eye, can accommodate PUVs and must conform with the guideline.
