A senatorial candidate for the administration coalition on Tuesday said the Liberal Party-led alliance would maximize the use of social media for 2013 election campaign season.
Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara said that instead of depending on big rallies, the ruling administration party would take advantage of mass media and social media, like Facebook and Twitter, to push their platforms for the campaign period.
The campaign period for senatorial candidates will begin on February 12 while the campaign period for local posts will begin on March 29.
“The consensus is that there will be fewer rallies than before as they are very expensive. Sorties will be made only in selected areas. It is part of the administration’s philosophy – bakit ka naman magsasayang ng pera kung kaya namang makatipid,” Angara said.
Meanwhile, the administration bet said that they are not expecting President Benigno S. Aquino to be present in all sorties but hoped that he would attend most of them.
“It is not required of the President to attend the events,” Angara said. “However, his push would mean a lot.”
