The chair of the Baguio city council’s committee on tourism Thursday said that the failure last year of what could have been the first “snow show” here will not make Baguio abandon the planned event which could further attract Christmas visitors here.
City councilor Elmer Datuin however said that there would be no “snow show” here next month “but could probably be held when we are sure of the success for that event which failed during our first try.”
With more than 2,000 people crowding the Session Road here last year, the snow-making machines failed to “rain” the area with planned artificial snow flakes to the dismay of the visitors, especially the children.
“When we will have a more suitable place, bigger snow-producing machines and fully convinced to have a successful snow show, then and only then we can again announce for the same event,” the councilor said.
The idea of having a snow show here was hatched by many local officials after having witnessed the same in many countries they visited which have similar minimum temperatures which range from 11 to 15 degrees Celsius.
