Russia to Host 2012 APEC Summit
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok is ready to host the 2012 APEC summit.
Medvedev told journalists:“On the whole, the situation with the preparations for the APEC summit is absolutely normal.
“There are of course some nuances, which should be corrected in the next two months, but the city itself and facilities are ready for the summit.”
The premier also vowed to continue the all-embracing development of the Russian Far East even after the APEC summit in the fall.
“Me personally and my colleagues in the government must regularly pay visits here [to the Far East],” he added.
Medvedev, who came to Vladivostok Monday to inspect facilities being built for the summit, earlier said that the city is even better than San Francisco in the United States.
