Russia’s consumer rights protection authority

The number of flu and respiratory diseases cases in Russia is under the epidemiological level, Russia’s consumer rights protection authority (Rospotrebnadzor) said in a release.

“Epidemiological threshold has been slightly exceeded only in the Astrakhan region, and in the cities of Smolensk, Tyumen, Khanty-Masiisk, Khabarovsk, Anadyr, and Yekaterinburg,” the release said.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, acute respiratory diseases are reported mostly in children.

According to laboratory monitoring results, among prevailing viruses are those of non-flu aetiology: parainflienza viruses (5.8 precent), respiratory syncytial, or RS viruses (four percent), adenoviruses (4.2 percent). Flue cases were registered rarely.

Inoculation campaign continues throughout the country, Rospotrebnadzor reported. As of today, the federal budget funded vaccination of 9.1 million adults and 4.7 million children. Inoculation of over 1.3 million people more was funded from other sources. In all, it is planned to vaccinate more than 15 million people, or more than 10 percent of the population.
