The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Monday announced it has prevented major robbery being hatched by a notorious robbery group following the arrest of one of its key leaders.
NCRPO chief Director Roberto Rosales said the arrest of Felimon Taghoy, alias Emong, by NCRPO intelligence operatives was a big blow to the Ampang-Colangco group, which is usually targeting banks.
”Our intelligence operatives have prevented a plan by the notorious Ampang-Colangco Robbery Group from staging another major robbery in Metro Manila with this arrest,” said Rosales.
Taghoy was arrested by police operatives by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Honorable Judge Lorna Navarro of NCRJ RTC Branch 201 of Las Pinas for crime of robbery during an operation in Bacoor, Cavite at around 3 p.m. Thursday.
”He managed to evade arrest from authorities by using different names. However, his positive identification by informants was made possible because of the tattoo on his left arm and chest,” said Rosales.
Rosales said Taghoy has been identified to had taken part in various robbery incidents staged by the Ampang-Colangco group like the January 2008 – Landbank, West Ave., Quezon City; June 4, 2007 – BDO Armored Van in Brgy. San Dionisio, Paranaque City; Feb. 9, 2005 – BDO San Fernando, Pampanga; Oct. 15, 2004 – Country Rural Bank of Taguig; April 5, 2004 – BDO Armored Van, SM North Edsa, QC; Jan. 20, 2004 – Premier Bank, Las Pinas City; Sept. 10, 2003 – BPI Family Bank, Molino, Bacoor, Cavite July 1, 2003 – Asia Trust Ever Gotesco, Commonwealth, QC; Feb. 12, 2003 – Prudential Bank, Evacom, Paranaque City, and July 2002 – Asia Trust Ever Gotesco.
