Rice supply in Nueva Vizcaya not rotting

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (July 30) — There is no oversupply of rice in the province, according to officials of the National Food Authority (NFA) here.

“We have no oversupply of rice in our warehouses. What we only have are buffer stocks enough for the period,” said Leslie Martinez, NFA provincial manager.

He also assured Novo Vizcayanos that their rice supply are in good quality for the consumption of the public.

According to Martinez, warehouses of NFA in the province also holds buffer stocks for the provinces of Ifugao and Mountain Province.
As of the first week of July, he said NFA has distributed 37,000 bags of rice or 42 percent of their targeted 91,000 bags for the year.

“Our warehouses are open for the public to check whether we over stocks of rice,” Martinez added.

On their palay procurement target of 56,000 bags, they have already accomplished 40 percent or 22,367 bags. (PIA NVizcaya)
