The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao is urging recruitment agencies to get accreditation from DOLE-ARMM to ensure the legitimacy of their operations in the five-province autonomous government.
DOLE-ARMM Secretary Myrah Alih, speaking during a forum at the ARMM Tuesday in line with the 22nd foundation anniversary of ARMM, told representative of recruitment agencies that there is a need for them to seek accreditation before DOLE-ARMM for smooth operations despite being accredited by DOLE national office.
ARMM is autonomous and it is separate and independent from the national office thus, the need for local accreditation.
Alih lamented that there are more than 60 recruitment and placement agencies operating in the province of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi but none of them have applied for accreditation.
“We have been tolerating their operations in the region without accreditation from us for 22 long years, now is the time for these agencies to seek accreditation with DOLE ARMM otherwise a crackdown will be launched,” Alih said.
As part of the week-long celebration, 18 recruitment agencies operating in ARMM have conducted jobs fair here with hundreds of applicants showed up.
Job applicants include registered nurses, midwives, civil engineers, welders, household workers, aerobics instructors and machine operators.
Earlier, ARMM Executive Secretary Naguib Sinarimbo urged recruitment firms to work together with the ARMM government in order to protect the interest of the recruits as well as the recruitment agencies.
