Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. stressed the importance of the public consultation on the 2011-2016 Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP)
held here January 6 as it sought to reflect the needs and aspirations of the people of Western Visayas
in the national development plan.
Tanco is the new
Chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC), which together with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) conducted the public consultation that was held simultaneously in all regions of the country.
The Capiz governor
said the national development plan is anchored on the social contract that President Benigno S. Aquino III has forged with the Filipino
people that upholds foremost the principles of transparency and accountability.
The plan will contain the development agenda of the Aquino adinistration during its term from 2011 to 2016.
The consultation, which was held simultaneously in other regions of the country, covered the entire chapters of the MTPDP on Macroeconomy, Competitive Industry
and Services Sectors, Competitive and Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries, Infrastructure, Financial
Sector, Good Governance and Rule of Law, Social Development, Peace
, and Conservation, Protection, and Rehabilitation og Environment and Natural Resources Towards Sustainable Development.
