POSCO, South Korea’s leading steelmaker, said Tuesday that its utility unit is seeking to build a large-scale solar plant in the United States.
POSCO Power Co. and Sustainable Energy Capital Partners (SECP) of the US have won the right to build a 300-megawatt solar plant in the sate of Nevada.
They plan to complete the project by 2014 through a joint venture and operate the plant for 20 years. SECP is a California-based developer of renewable energy projects.
POSCO Power has been operating production facilities of power generation assisting devices, such as circuits controlling power generation, in South Korea since 2008.
Currently, POSCO Power is operating fuel cell power plants generating 23 megawatts in South Korea. (PNA/Yonhap)
