Police set to declare 30 percent of Zamboanga barangays as drug-free
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec. 27 (PNA) — The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) is set to declare 30 percent of this city’s 98 barangays as drug-free.
Senior Supt. Luisito Magnaye, ZCPO director, said that they are conducting a weekly evaluation and review of all barangays based on the parameters set by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) to declare a particular barangay as drug-free.
“We are considering to recommend the declaration of around 30 percent of the barangays or more as drug-free,” Magnaye said.
The parameters in the declaration as drug-free barangay include that there must be no pusher or user staying in the area.
The ZCPO has recorded around 2,000 pushers and users who surrendered during the implementation of Oplan Tokhang the past several months in this city.
Meanwhile, Magnaye is asking the community to help them in coming up with a rehabilitation program for drug surrenderers in their respective barangays. (PNA)
