A total of five people including three policemen, one child and a pregnant woman have been killed during a violent attack against a police post in northern Peru, local media reported on Monday.
The attack took place on Sunday night in the district of Santa Rosa of the province of Jaen, in the northern region of Cajamarca. Some unknown armed men broke into the post and shot people inside.
Armando Barrantes, commander of the post, was killed along with officers Jose Vasquez and Milton Tandayapan. Barrantes’ 14-year-old son and Vasquez’s pregnant wife, were also killed.
The attackers escaped by motorcycles after stealing weapons, ammunitions and bullet-proof vests from the police post.
