Plane crash in Magalang, Pampanga, Philippines

A Filipino pilot and his Malaysian student were killed in a plane crash in Magalang, Pampanga Friday afternoon.

A report reaching here said the victims were on board a single-engine Cessna training plane which crashed in Sitio Talimundok, Barangay Sta. Monica, Magalang town at around 5:30 p.m.

The plane was owned by Omni Aviation Corp. Flying School based at the Clark Freeport Zone.

Captain Benhur Gomez, president of the Omni Aviation Corp. Flying School, identified the victims as Alfred Christian de Leon and Tian Yu Wong. Both died on the spot.

Gomez said the aircraft’s engine malfunctioned while in mid-air before crashing.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the plane was in good condition when it departed from Omni Aviation Flying School at around 4 p.m.
