Iriga City Mayor Madelaine Alfelor-Gazmen conferred the Award for Leadership and Excellence in Communication by the Philippine chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for her skillful use of communications strategies in implementing programs in nature conservation and the preservation of Mt. Iriga and other programs that established Iriga as one of the fastest growing economic hubs in the Bicol Region.
Gazmen is the only city local chief executive among this year’s awardee.
Thirteen other chief executive officers (CEO) were similarly honored including Phil. Daily Inquirer chairman Marixi R. Prieto, ABS-CBN Corp. president Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN Foundation managing director Regina Lopez, BPI Family Savings Bank president Alfonso Salcedo Jr., Century Properties chair Jose E. B. Antonio, Enchanted Kingdom vice president Cynthia Mamon, First Vita Plus Manufacturing Corp. president and CEO Rhodora Tumpalan, Globe Telecom President and CEO Ernest Cu, GMA Kapuso Foundation External vice president Carmela Tiangco, ICCP Group chair and CEO Guillermo Luchangco, Lanao del Norte Governor Khalid Dimaporo, Land Bank president and CEO Gilda Pico and Lyceum University president Roberto Laurel.
Rey Anthony David Jr., president of IABC-Philippines, said rewarding excellence in communication remained vital in the business and governance community, particularly after the May elections, which he described as a defining moment in the country`s history.
