The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index rose 74.40 points or 1.83 percent to close at 4,129.54 on Friday.
Value turnover reached P6.159 billion, with more than 1.334 billion shares traded.
The market’s 47 decliners were outnumbered by 74 advancers while 46 issues remained unchanged.
Analysts say the positive trading will likely continue as more listed companies disclose their earnings for this month.
Trading was also influenced by upbeat developments such as acquisition of Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc. or Digitel, operator of Sun Cellular, by Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT). (PNA)
