Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Nicanor Bartolome on Sunday ordered all police regional directors (RDs) to enhance security preparations for this week’s nationwide filing of candidacy for next year’s mid-term elections.
Bartolome said that he directedf all PNP-Police Regional Offices (PROs) directors to coordinate closely with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other government law enforcement agencies in their respective areas to maintain peace and order during the event.
The chief PNP said he issued a letter of instruction to all RDs and called for a conference in Camp Crame on Oct. 25 for those in Luzon and Oct. 27 for those in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) scheduled nationwide filing of candidacy on Oct. 1 to 5.
”I directed them to enhance the security preparations during the period in coordination with COMELEC officials. Another memorandum is sent this weekend reminding our PNP commanders on the ground to enhance their preparations in coordination with the AFP and other law enforcement agencies,” said Bartolome.
