A 600-strong Boy Scouts contingent from Western Mindanao is attending the six-day 15th National Scouts Jamboree in Laguna.
Western Mindanao Boy Scouts chairman Jose Manuel Dalipe II said the jamboree, being held at Mount Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna, will end May 31.
Dalipe said the 600 participants come from the 12 Boy Scouts Councils of Western Mindanao area.
The Boy Scouts’ Western Mindanao Council covers the provinces of Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga Del Norte, Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Lanao Del Norte, Lanao Del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi and the cities of Cotabato, Iligan and Zamboanga.
Dalipe said the jamboree is aimed at instilling a sense of patriotism and developing leadership skills of “our young Filipinos through these challenging and educational outdoor activities.”
At least 10,000 Boy Scouts from all over the country are attending the jamboree which is held every four years, Dalipe said. (PNA)
