The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday declared as generally peaceful the first day of filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office in Manila for the May 2013 midterm elections.
NCRPO director Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina said the NCRPO took the initiative to field more security personnel in addition to the ones deployed by the Manila Police District (MPD) at the COMELEC head office in Intramuros.
”The MPD security detail around the Palacio del Gobernador-COMLEC Office has been beefed by more personnel from the NCRPO,” said Espina.
”Although the first day of the COC filing was accentuated by convoys, caravans, marching bands and festive atmosphere, the overall situation remains generally peaceful,” said Espina.
