The first-ever two-day Pangasinan Housing Fair kicked off Thursday at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center here.
The is sponsored jointly by the United Architects of the Philippines-Pangasinan Scale Chapter, in partnership with the provincial government and the Pag-IBIG Fund.
Engr. Alvin Bigay, Provincial Housing and Urban Development Officer, said the event is in line with the National Shelter Month celebration which is globally declared by the United Nation every month of October.
Bigay said that aside from taking part in the global celebration of the shelter month, the two-day fair is intended to “showcase various program of the shelter agencies” and to present to the public new technologies related to the housing industry.
“Housing or shelter is one of the basic needs of the people thus the provincial government has set its sight in developing an innovative approach to address homelessness of the majority number of Pangasinenses,” Bigay stressed.
He added that the housing project of the province is not only concentrated on employees or working sector but more importantly for the under-privileged sector of the society.
Atty. Darlene Marie Berberabe, chief executive officer of Pag-IBIG Fund, commended Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. whose administration is fully supportive of the shelter program.
The fair is co-sponsored by various groups which include Davies Paints Philippines Inc., Union Galvasteel Corporation, CREBA Pangasinan Chapter, Star Printers, Lucisson Group Incorporated, Jovellanos Furniture and Zari-Zari Studio.
It is participated in by architecture students of the University of Luzon, home developers and different private associations.
Lectures will include topics like: Mandate and Update on the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board, Land Registration and Titling, Residential Free Patent, Architecture Act of 2004, Green Architecture, Off-Site Fabrication Services Coupler, and State of the Art Technology in Construction.
