Palace Releases Proposed Bills of the Duterte Administration
Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Secretary Adelino Baguio Sitoy on Thursday disclosed the proposed bills of the Duterte administration.
Speaking in a press briefing in Malacañang, Sitoy reported the outcome of the Cabinet Meeting held on Wednesday where the Department of Finance (DOF), Department of National Defense (DND), and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) presented their proposed bills.
DOF recommended the reduction of personal and income tax, tax on fuel and sugary products as well as adjustments on the Sin Tax Bill.
Meanwhile, DBM proposed the rightsizing of the bureaucracy and the creation of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
DND recommended the amendment of the National Defense Act in order to revive the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).
The list also contained the legislative commitments mentioned by President Rodrigo Duterte during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July which includes the amendment of the anti-terrorism law, anti-money laundering act, anti-cybercrime act, whistleblowers’ act, creation of OFW department, BBL, and Counter-terrorism Act.
Sitoy also said that the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting will convene regularly which will be composed of President Rodrigo Duterte as Chairman, Vice Leni Robredo as Vice Chairman, Senate President Koko Pimentel, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, seven members of the Cabinet.
LEDAC will also include three members of the Senate. Franklin Drilon, Ralph Recto and Vicente Sotto III have been nominated and three members of the House of Representatives, Rodolfo Fariñas, Danilo Suarez, and Dakila Cua as nominees.
