The Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas will soon be investigating the unfinished core shelter projects being implemented in Western Visayas.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office 6 Asst. Dir. Joel Galicia said that they have received information that the Office of the Ombudsman will soon be conducting an investigation on why the core shelter projects are not yet completed despite the funds released already by the DSWD to the local government unit (LGU) beneficiaries.
A similar investigation is also being conducted by the Commission on Audit (COA) that is now checking on the financial reports.
The recipient of the 105 unfinished core shelter projects in Antique is the town of San Remigio that had been hit hard by Typhoon Frank in 2008.
Likewise, the town of Belison is also a recipient of 60 units of core shelter projects that were unimplemented despite the release of P4.2 million funding by the DSWD.
