San Miguel Corporation (SMC), an investor to the P2.5 billion expansion of the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport, otherwise known as the Caticlan Airport, is looking forward to the presence of President Benigno S. Aquino III during the project’s inauguration slated June 25.
The Caticlan International Airport and Development Corporation project has two phases; the first stage covers the construction of a new passenger terminal costing some P2.1 billion, extension of the existing runway to 2,100 meters, upgrading of airport equipment and the existing apron amounting to around P360 million.
The upgrading project would enable the airport not only to support jet aircraft but also to serve international destinations.
Barring any hitches, both phases of the expansion would be completed by 2012 or until 2014.
The inauguration was earlier set in May but was moved to June because the airport is not yet ready. (PNA)
