Tagum City pushes for its bid to make the city a hub for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) by including ICT activities among the featured events for Musikahan sa Tagum 2013.
“We have this dream of making Tagum City one of the ICT hubs in the region and while we had a soft launch last year, we are going to be more aggressive this year,” according to Musikahan @IT’s, Christine Suaybagio Palijo, ICT In-charge.
While the "Musikahan Festival", to be held from February 14 to 24, is basically a musical show and competition event, she said the organizers headed by Tagum City Tourism Council chairperson Alma Uy deemed it important to include the Musikahan @I.T. Exhibition and competition as a featured event.
“This will serve as a platform for the IT learning institutions to show the vital role of Information Technology in Tagum City’s sustainable growth,” Palijo said.
She said the faculty and students of the various I.T. learning institutions in Tagum would showcase their enhanced capabilities by developing and creating application software (APPs) that could be used to promote the creative industry of the city.
“The creative outputs or APPs will be uploaded online while others can be disseminated using mobile phones,” she said.
Among the APPs that will be showcased include a set of three Musikahan Ringtones, online streaming of Live Musikahan Performances, e-marketing applications for selected Musikahan events and the institution’s website.
Palijo said while they have lined up an IT Quiz Show and an IT Industry Forum, people should also watch out for the Musikahan @IT Sync IT which will showcase an eight-member band formed by the IT people. The participants will then use recent gadgets like iPhones and iPads and use a software that will promote their music.
