Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL), one of the world’s largest shipping companies, has donated P600,000 to the Habitat for Humanity Philippines to support the non-governmental organization’s self-reliance projects.
Habitat for Humanity Philippines chief executive officer and president Ricardo Nicanor N. Jacinto expressed his thanks to the Japanese shipping company for the donation.
Jacinto presented to the MOL representatives in Manila a commemorative plaque thanking MOL president Koichi Muto.
“We are engaged in activities to support people afflicted by disasters like previous typhoons in the Philippines, as well as those who live in poverty, so MOL’s donation will be a great help for those people,” Jacinto said.
The donation will be used in the construction of a daycare center, a multipurpose facility that will provide education for pre-school children, health checkups and meals for underprivileged people, among other benefits.
Habitat for Humanity is an NGO that supports self-reliance by constructing houses in impoverished nations and disaster-stricken areas. It was founded in 1976 in the United States. Its Philippine affiliate was established in 1988.
