Scientists from Lvov Cell Biology Institute have found a microorganism that decomposes cancer cells, the local media reported Thursday.
“We have been studying the microorganism, called Argenina for a long time. And we came to the conclusion that it has an ability of fighting cancer cells,” told Ukrainian Ukrinform news agency Andrew Sibirny, Lvov Cell Biology Institute director.
He added: “Now we are developing a methodology for the introduction of this organism in diseased cells. We have several projects on the study of cellular organisms.”
Meanwhile scientists keep in secret the new technology. They promise to tell the public about it as soon as they get the practical results.
According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the cause of 13 percent deaths worldwide. Over million people are sick with cancer in Ukraine. It’s almost two percent of the population. (PNA/Xinhua)
