Two more local government units (LGUs) in Eastern Samar were declared "manageable conflict-affected and development ready areas" last Monday.
These are the municipalities of San Policarpio and Sulat.
The declarations were issued and signed by San Policarpio mayor Conrado Uy Nicart III, Sulat mayor Virginia R. Zacate and 801st Infantry Brigade commander Col. Romeo L. Labrador.
Nicart expressed his utmost gratitude to the military for facilitating this significant event.
He also pledged to give full support to all the programs of the Philippine Army for peace and development in the area in the spirit of “Bayanihan”.
“I personally recognize the efforts of the military for ensuring peace in our locality," Nicart said.
While Zacate also expressed her gratitude for her role in this peace initiative in ensuring a peaceful and progressive municipality through the signing of the joint declaration.
“I further recognize the efforts of all the Barangay leaders for their sustained cooperation and support for making Sulat a peaceful municipality in the recent years” Zacate said.
“I would like to commend 801st Infantry Brigade headed by Col. Labador for taking this initiative in coordinating, collaborating with the local government units of Eastern Samar in the series of joint declaration for making their municipalities and city as manageable conflict-affected and development ready areas,” 8th Infantry Division chief Major Gen. Gerardo T. Layug said.
