Authorities may just have to look deeper into a death threat letter intended for Cotabato City Mayor Japal Guiani Jr. but coursed through a cafeteria frequented by newsmen here.
The letter, dated July 31, was spotted by a waiter of the Dateliners establishment tucked at its grill stand on Tuesday morning, while opening business for the day along Gov. Gutierrez Street here.
The cafeteria is being ran by the wife of Manila Bulletin correspondent Ali Macabalang who concurrently heads the Bureau of Public Information–Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BPI-ARMM) here.
Part of the letter, written in Tagalog dialect, stated that it would like to use the media in conveying their message of disgust to the mayor over his recent drive to rid the city’s major thoroughfares of illegal tricycles locally known as “payong-payong.”
“Mayor, we know that you are the brains behind the series of seizure and impounding of ‘payong-payongs’ here. You are inflexible to us but it takes only one bullet to kill you,” the letter further stated in the vernacular.
