About 31 pupils and three coaches of the Sto. Nino Sped Center in Tacloban City are set to leave for Manila on October 1 in order to represent the Eastern Visayas Region in the Kraft Cheez Whiz National Palamantasan ng Sarap, Sustansiya at Saya competition.
Twenty pupils will represent the Region in the Sabayang Bigkas competition while ten pupils will represent the Region in the Cheering competition. Another pupil, Celene Velarde will represent Eastern Visayas in the On the spot Essay Writing competion.
The Sto. Nino Sped Center pupils emerged as champions in the three categories during the regional eliminations held at Holy Infant College in Tacloban two weeks ago.
The three coaches who will join the pupils in the National Competition which will be held at the UP Main Theater on October 2, are Ms. Ledwina Eva C. Teston who is the coach for Sabayang Bigkas, Ms. Myra Kay R. Palana who is the coach for Cheer Dance, and Ms. Aileen Apostol, the coach for the Essay writing contest.
The Cheez Whiz Palamantasan is composed of 5 competitions, the On-The-Spot Essay Writing Contest, Jarchitecture Contest, Mom & Kid Sandwich Recipe Contest, Sabayang Bigkas and the Cheez Whiz Cheering Competition.Initiated by Kraft Foods Philippines in partnership with the Department of Education, the Cheez Whiz Palamantasan Competition is the first national competition which has been instigated to explore the multi-level talents of children outside the classroom.
The event aims to educate the young minds on the importance of proper nutrition and healthy diet, and to raise public consciousness and enhance nutrition education in schools.
