The Japan International Cooperation Agency, in coordination with officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, turned over Tuesday a P7.6-million two-storey school building in Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur.
Lumbatan Mayor Mamintal Razuman received the eight-classroom modern structure from ARMM Social Fund Project (ASFP) Manager Engr. Nasser Sinarimbo in simple ceremonies held at the confines of the Andong National High School.
“This is an enormous dream fulfilled for this town where student enrolment rises yearly but the number of school buildings virtually remained stagnant,” the mayor said.
For his part, Sinarimbo said the school building is the latest of 33 completed infrastructure projects under the strategic regional infrastructure (SRI) component of the ASFP.
The ASFP is the conduit to ARMM of foreign donor and creditor-agencies implementing various forms of projects in the region.
During the turn over rites, Japan Embassy 1st Secretary Naoyuki Ochiai described the endeavor as an honor for his country in supporting efforts to provide better educational facilities to the region. – PNA
