Japan’s industrial production in April rose 1.0 pct from the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Tuesday.
The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 83.5 against 100 for the base year of 2005. In March, the index fell 15.5 pct.
The April result came against the median forecast of a 2.6 pct increase among 26 economic research institutes.
The April shipment index stood at 82.7, down 2.7 pct, and the inventory index was at 98.2, up 0.5 pct.
Production in the manufacturing sector is expected to rise 8.0 pct in May and grow 7.7 pct in June, the ministry said.
