Japanese stocks open lower

Japanese stocks opened lower Tuesday on tumbles the U.S. stocks overnight.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 80.36 points, or 0.96 percent, from Monday to 8,267.91.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 5.63 points, or 0.79 percent, at 711.45.
