At least 30 more people may have been exposed to radiation when an explosion hit a quake-damaged nuclear plant in northern Japan, officials said Sunday.
They include 19 people evacuated from a hospital in the town of Futaba in Fukushima Prefecture, where the No. 1 Fukushima nuclear plant of Tokyo Electric Power Co. <9501> is located.
The 19 people, including 18 hospital officials, were being moved by helicopter, according to the prefectural government.
Already, three other hospital officials were found to have been exposed to radiation.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano told a press conference that at least nine residents may have been exposed to radiation during evacuation from the town.
