Japanese Manufacturing Companies After the Earthquake

Major manufacturers in Japan are shifting production from plants hit by the earthquake that ravaged northeastern Japan to other bases because of difficulties in restarting their damaged plants.

With operations stopping at its plant in Date, Fukushima Prefecture, northern Japan, since the 9.0-magnitude and resulting tsunami on March 11, Fujitsu Ltd. <6702> is temporarily shifting production of personal computers to a plant in Shimane Prefecture, western Japan, and that of business-use computers to a plant in Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan.
