Japanese Manufacturers Resume Operation After Earthquake

Some Japanese manufacturers are resuming operations at their plants hit by Friday’s earthquake in northern and eastern Japan.

On Thursday, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. resumed the operations of its plant in Ryugasaki, Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo. Its five plants in the prefecture were damaged by the quake, but the degree of damage at the Ryugasaki plant was relatively small, according to officials of the company. – Jiji Press
