The nuclear radiation leak in Japan is still out of control and fears that radiation would travel and hit Europe are on the rise. Nuclear radiation can reach as far as London, England in the UK. Radioactive materials are transported by clouds and therefore can drift toward London, England and countries in the European Union (EU).
A Hong Kong University professor who is a world renown radiation expert was quoted by Time Magazine as saying that humanity seems helpless to prevent nuclear radiation exposure and that the basic way to avoid nuclear radiation is to stay indoors all the time.
It seems that it’s not a good idea at this time to watch football tournament in the English Premiere League. A very little exposure to radioactive materials can cause instantaneous death within a month or trigger all sorts of cancer.
Here’s the latest update on the nuclear radiation leak crisis in Japan.
from Jiji Press (Japan) – The Metropolitan Police Department of Tokyo is considering sending a water cannon truck for use to cool down one of reactors at Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s <9501> quake-damaged a nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture, northeastern Japan, it was learned Wednesday.
A senior official of the National Police Agency said the Japanese police are studying whether the mission is possible by using their equipment and expertise.
The police are now in talks with the office of Prime Minister Naoto Kan and the Defense Ministry on the measure, the official said.
If conditions are met, the water cannon truck will be mobilized to cool down the No. 4 reactor at the power supplier’s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant as early as Thursday morning. The plant was damaged by the 9.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Fukushima and many other parts of the Tohoku northeastern region.
The truck is already standing by at a point some 30 kilometers from the plant, sources said.
