The day after a devastating earthquake that caused widespread disruptions to the transport services in eastern Japan, train operators are resuming services in the Tokyo Metropolitan area Saturday morning.
The Odakyu line, connecting Tokyo and areas south of the city, will run reduced services as the operator, Odakyu Electric Railway Co. <9007>, will conduct inspections of the facilities at the same time.
Keikyu Corp.’s line, which also serves areas south of Tokyo, is operating at the normal starting time except part of it.
Most of subway lines, which ran throughout the night, continued their services in the morning. A monorail line connecting downtown Tokyo and Tokyo International Airport at Haneda is to operate normally.
But railway operators serving north of Tokyo, areas closer to the epicenter of the deadly quake, continue to suspend their services. – Jiji Press
