Japan Earthquake Update – 32 Death Toll Count

At least 32 people died and numerous others were injured across an extensive area in the eastern half of Japan following Friday’s powerful earthquake which rocked northeastern and eastern Japan, the National Police Agency and local officials said.

Ten people died due to a quake-triggered tsunami in Iwate Prefecture, while at least one death was reported in each of Miyagi, Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures, according to local officials.

In Takahagi, Ibaraki Prefecture, a woman died when a roof collapsed at a massage parlor following the magnitude 8.8 quake which struck at 2:46 p.m., and a person died in the town of Haga, Tochigi Prefecture, after a wall crumbled at a factory. – PNA
