International flight services resumed Sunday at Tokyo’s Haneda airport

Full-fledged international flight services resumed Sunday at Tokyo’s Haneda airport for the first time in 32 years as a Japan Airlines plane left for San Francisco shortly past midnight.

Flights to Asian destinations, including Seoul, Beijing and Hong Kong, also departed the airport early Sunday morning amid a festive mood. Among them was a JAL flight that left for Taiwan shortly after 8 a.m.

JAL President Masaru Onishi said at the memorial event, “We hope we can contribute to enhancing ties (between Japan and Taiwan) in various fields, such as economy, culture and tourism.” (PNA/Kyodo)
