Indonesia’s international airport in Jakarta, Soekarno-Hatta airport, was ranked 22nd among 100 major international airports in terms of combined passenger arrivals and departures, a media reported here Monday.
“Our position is so close to the Singapore airport, which serves 37.2 million passengers,” Angkasa Pura II, president director Tri Sunoko was quoted by the Jakarta Post as saying.
He said Harstsfield international airport in Atlanta, the United States, topped the list with 88 million passenger arrivals and departures annually.
Soekarno-Hatta’s figure was a 15.2 percent increase from the year before, when the world was hit by a major economic crisis.
This year, he said, Soekarno-Hatta airport was expected to serve 40 million passengers in near future. (PNA/Xinhua)
