Income of Boracay Island, Philippines

The local government of Malay generated some P609,316,129.00 from various investments that were established in Boracay Island in 2010 based on the record of the Development and Planning Department.

Malay Mayor John Yap said that in 2010, some 3,295 businesses were registered which he attributed to the town’s investment-friendly environment programs.

“This statistics means more livelihood and employment of our people,” Yap said.

He added that the funds were used in the construction of roads, school buildings, improvement of local government infrastructures, even power and water system of Ati village, beach erosion protection and coral reef protection.
