Imus, Cavite Gets CCTV Camera Everywhere

To ensure effectively monitoring crimes, traffic situation and other activities in this capital town, the municipal government installed 23 closed-circuit television (CCTV)cameras in strategic areas here, the latest last Wednesday on a 10-feet post between Imus town public market and Lotus Mall on Nueno Avenue.

Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi said maintenance and peace and order and traffic management had improved tremendously following the installation of the CCTVs in the municipality.

Maliksi said installation of CCTVs with night vision was a project of the municipal government that started in early 2011.

He said Fahad Don Omar Fajardo, president of NS Telecom Co. Inc., was tasked to lead the installation of the 23 monitoring device worth P1.9 million.

Fajardo told local officials the CCTV cameras can monitor the movements of pickpockets, snatchers, holdup men and other hooligans as well as the traffic situation and other activities in the municipality.

Aside from CCTV installed on a 10-feet post between Imus Public Market and Lotus Mall on Nueno Avenue, cameras were also placed at the Imus Welcome Arc on Aguinaldo Highway, the plaza fronting the Our Lady of Pillar Cathedral, seat of Imus diocese; municipal and police stations and thoroughfares in heavily populated barangays, Fajardo said.
