Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has urged the support of the business sector here in the rehabilitation of 12 hospitals being run by the provincial government.
Defensor, during the general assembly of the Iloilo Economic Development (ILED) Foundation held over the weekend, disclosed his plans and programs for the province which included the rehabilitation of 12 hospitals to include 11 district hospitals and one provincial hospital.
He said that he wanted these hospitals to be equipped, functioning efficient and a truly functional hospital for the poor.
“We don’t earn much but what I want it to be a real hospital for the poor because the poor people of the province of Iloilo could not afford the hospitals in the city,” he said.
“You can be of assistance to us; I don’t know how you can be of assistance to us. But for me it is crucial because we cannot truly seek of growth and development if we have a sick society and we cannot address the basic need of the poor in the province,” Defensor added.
According to the governor, the provincial government will be borrowing P500 million for the rehabilitation of these hospitals. (PNA)
